Assignment Schedule

Assignment #1: Email Your Teacher 


Using your Office 365 Account, email your teacher introducing yourself. Answer the following questions in your email: What subject or subjects do you enjoy most at school? What activities (sports, hobbies, etc) do you enjoy? What do you appreciate about your family or friends? What things do you do to serve your community? 


Assignment #2:  Join Khan Academy 

Please be sure to use your district email address to make your account.  


Assignment #3:  Khan Academy - Introduction to Nouns

In this assignment, you will go to khanacademy.org and complete the assignments on "Introduction to Nouns". 


Assignment #4:  Khan Academy - Types of Nouns 

Login to your Khan Academy account and complete the next set of assignments titled "Types of Nouns". There are four assignment, two videos and two quizzes. Be sure to complete each video and get a passing score on each test in order to receive full credit.  


Assignment #5:  OneNote - Create a New Notebook 

Using Your Office 365 Account, create a new notebook in OneNote. Be sure to title it "2024-2025 English 9".

We will do a literary analysis in our OneNote by looking at the following literary terms: Exposition, Initial Conflict, Crisis/Climax, and Resolution. You will complete the Summary on Page 8 and the QuickWrite on Page 9.

We will do a SOAPSTONE analysis in our OneNote by looking at the biographical information about the author as well as the background information.

Lord of the Flies Performance Task: 

Step 1 – Choose a character (Ralph -Yellow, Jack – Orange, Piggy - Green, Simon - Blue) 

Step 2 – Choose the materials you are going to use on your mask (Plastic mask, palm fronds, construction paper, miscellaneous craft material) 

Step 3 – Design the mask using the four symbols from the book (conch, fire, beast, piggy's glasses) 

Step 4 – Include a quote from the character that best describes their personality (look at Chapter 5) 

Step 5 – Write a poem of at least 8 lines x 5 words = 40 words total) using the adjectives from the "True Color Notes" 

Video Presentation: You need to recite your poem for the presentation. 

Step 6 – Include pictures of your mask, as well as voices overs in your OneNote for your presentation.  

Answer the following questions for your presentation using Audio in your OneNote: 

How would you describe your character's personality? 

Why did you choose this character? 

How do you relate to this character? 

60 Points Total
